Corsairs U14 v Ilkeston
Corsairs U14 travelled to Ilkeston for their NLD Cup fixture and came away 25–17 winners against a strong, powerful home side. The lads battled throughout, with a particularly strong second half carrying them to victory.
Ali Coulton earned his second Player of the Match award after some superb carrying from number 8 and a key role in a determined defensive effort.
U13s- Getting ready for the game
We were training today in preparation for our first match of the season. Key items focussed around defensive organisation, re-starts, scrums and attacking lines and plays. The boys are shaping up nicely and can’t wait for the 1st game.
U12s - Skills Skills Skills!
Training for U12s this weekend, with lots of focus on some key skills - gathering the high kick, protecting the edge of rucks and more practice on the new 5 scrum with emphasis on hooker/SH co-ordination.
Lots of core strength development too, for this silly enough to invoke a press-up penalty for not paying attention!
Corsairs U11s v West Bridgford
A fantastic morning of rugby in lovely weather, with enough players in both squads to get two matches played.
There was plenty of excitement about being able to kick in matches for the first time, and the boys really embraced it. Both games were strong, competitive and evenly matched, with some great rugby played by both sides.
And, of course, the hot dogs afterwards went down very well!
Corsairs U10s v West Bridgford
U10s were away to West Bridgford this morning. With a large squad, we were able to give all the boys plenty of game time and the opportunity to contribute across the match.
Building on the momentum from last week, the boys demonstrated some excellent all-round play. There was a marked improvement in both tackling and passing, with the team increasingly looking to support one another and move the ball into space. This was rewarded with some excellent team tries.
West Bridgford fielded a strong side and proved to be a tough opponent throughout. The boys responded positively to the challenge, showing determination, resilience and a willingness to keep working for one another right through to the final whistle.
Most importantly, it was another positive step in the boys’ development. They continued to put into practice what we have been working on in training, while playing the game in the right spirit. There was plenty of teamwork, encouragement and respect on display, both for teammates and the opposition.
Lots to be pleased with and, equally, plenty for us to keep working on as a group. Well done to all the boys for their effort, attitude and commitment today, and thank you to West Bridgford for a competitive and enjoyable morning of rugby.
Corsairs U9s v West Bridgford
A great start to the season. With the introduction of tackling bringing a big change, the players really embraced it and played very well.
Two matches against two well drilled squads from Bridgford, with some fun mixed warm ups.
Great to see the enthusiasm from all players across the morning.
Corsairs U8s vs West Bridgford
The boys had a great first match of the season against a strong West Bridgford team. There was some fantastic tag rugby on display, with well-taken tries scored on both sides. The Corsairs boys put in a superb performance, and as always, West Bridgford were excellent hosts. A brilliant start to the season all round.
Corsairs U7s v West Bridgford
A fantastic first-ever match for our Under 7s! It was great to see the boys and girls putting so many of the things we’ve been working on in training into practice.
There was some brilliant running and tagging throughout the morning, and it was particularly great to see some excellent passing and support running too.
A brilliant start, well done, everyone!
Thank you to West Bridgford for hosting our teams this morning.
U6’s - making rugby fun
We have seen an increase in team numbers so it was nice to do some fun activities with all of the boys and girls and welcome two new players.
There was plenty of fun, a little bit of competition and some all round team building through rugby related games.
Really good to see everyone running around the field and getting involved in all of the games
