This weekend was the tour weekend for our Mini's and Jnrs. Both headed to youth centres and took part in as many outdoor, mobile phone free, wholesome, fun activities as possible. These included raft building and high ropes courses for the younger groups, and axe throwing and rifle shooting for the older ones. If that wasn't enough to tire them out there was a tug of war warm up session in the afternoon sunshine!

While the Jnrs and Minis left Lady Bay the Leicester Tigers came to town to take their place. With a handful of our volunteers manning the bar while they took on Nottingham Rugby at the Bay.

A fast paced, hard tackling game was played by some newly blooded players. Nottingham came away with the win. Spotted pitch side was England, Lions, and Tigers legend Martin Johnson.
Astonishingly, while the kids were away their parents didn't take full advantage of their freedom, but instead worked tirelessly in preparing a festival for their return. This included carnival games, food vendors, cake sales, and bouncy castles. But first the tourers needed to compete in a home rugby tournament vs strong local sides. Bingham, Southwell, and Kesteven travelled to the bay to give the kids a very physical welcome home on hard ground!

The teams gave their all and headed into the Nottingham Rugby Marquee to receive their end of year medals and awards. Massive thanks to the Nottingham Rugby players who joined us at the awards and training sessions afterwards.

Fun, food, and welly wanging were in store for the afternoon, along with exhibition matches from the Corsairs Ladies team and Nottingham Vikings Walking Rugby.

An astonishingly good weekend of rugby and fun was had by all at the club and our Chairman Nick Parkes put it well when in his late night message (it felt late but it was only 21:00!) "I wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and enthusiasm of a bunch of volunteers whom make this all happen, so to the coaches, team managers, cooks, first aiders, kit washers etc etc, a massive thanks on behalf of players, parents, the club, and the community, your dedication is amazing!"
U12s coach Mr Cooper Holmes deserves special thanks for his ambition to stage such a great weekend.
