With glorious weather, huge crowds and smiles wherever you looked, the event was a wonderful celebration of a bridge that is already bringing communities closer together.

It was fantastic to see so many people making their way across the new bridge, with residents and visitors from both sides coming together to enjoy a day packed with activities, entertainment, community stalls and family fun. Whichever side of the bridge you round yourself on, there was plenty to see, do, eat and drink.

The atmosphere throughout the day was incredibly positive, with people of all ages enjoying everything on offer and taking the opportunity to connect with neighbours, friends and local organisations.

So many people generously gave their time to help make the day a success, including the talented face painters, who spent the day transforming children into superheroes, animals and colourful characters. Their queue seemed endless at times, a reflection of just how popular they were with families throughout the event.

That said, all stalls were busy and there was a lot of engagement with the stall holders from people generally interested in what they had to offer.

Rugby was well represented throughout the day, with Nottingham Corsairs, the Three Pillars Project and Nottingham Rugby Club showcasing the positive impact the sport has across our communities.

There was also a special appearance from one of Nottingham Rugby’s Community Favourites, Pickle, who was on hand to demonstrate a few rugby skills, entertain and inspire some future players along the way.

The day also complemented the annual Lady Bay Open Gardens event perfectly. Many visitors enjoyed exploring the beautiful gardens before making their way to and across Waterside Bridge, creating a fantastic community-focused day that highlighted the very best of the local area.

From the first visitors arriving in the morning to the final conversations of the afternoon, the event was filled with laughter, friendly faces and a genuine sense of togetherness. The sunshine certainly helped, but it was the people who made the day so special.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended, volunteered, organised and supported the event. Events like these don't happen without a tremendous amount of effort behind the scenes, and the success of the day was clear for all to see.
