Glory Beckons U10s

Glory Beckons U10s

U10s overcome Melbourne and Braintree to reach the final 4 in the Prima Cup.

Excitement levels were high amongst the spectators as Woody strode into the centre to take the toss as Captain. The U10s got off to their usual slow start yesterday in their first game of the Prima Cup Super 16s by spotting Melbourne an easy interception near our own try line. Having gotten their nerves under control we then spent considerable time camped in their end of the field before Matt want over to even the score going into half time.

In the 2nd half Nottingham we were clearly playing the better rugby, but a heart stopping number of penalties by us kept Melbourne in the game before Ollie slipped up a gear and burned them on the wings twice. In the end the final 3-1 score line to Nottingham was a fair reflection of the game on display.

Down to the last 8 now and Nottingham were faced with a Braintree squad that appeared to be populated by giants! No problem. Very aggressive forward work and repeated stripping of the ball by Archie brought the game our way – no wobbly start this time. Yet another sprint along the wing by Ollie gave us the lead, Ryan hammered and span his way through the crowd and down into the corner for our 2nd. Archie took us 3-1 up in the 2nd half. A sustained period of pressure for a large part of the 2nd half finally brought a late consolation try for Braintree before the ref called time.

So there you have it sports fans, a total team performance from every lad who are a credit to themselves and the club.
In the other side of the draw Haywards Heath went through on a technicality, having drawn 3-3 with Old Lemingtonions HH went through because they scored 1st.

Now we have a long wait until March 22nd before the last 4 teams out of the 70+ that started the competition come together to finally decide the winner.

Well done Nottingham!
